More than just a ride

Every mile ridden at Heart of Gold Gravel is about something bigger.

It's about showing up for young people. It's about building community. It's about making sure youth in Nevada County have access to the mental health support they need when they need it most.

Heart of Gold Gravel exists to raise funds and awareness for youth mental health and wellness while bringing together riders, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who believe that no young person should have to face life's challenges alone.

Whether you joined us on the bike, volunteered your time, sponsored the event, or cheered riders across the finish line, you helped make a real difference.

A Message From Our Founders

When you clipped in for Heart of Gold Gravel, you weren't just riding through the beautiful forests, gravel roads, and historic streets of Nevada County.

You were riding for local youth.

The funds raised through Heart of Gold help connect young people with life-changing resources, from mentoring relationships to professional therapy services. Many of the youth we support fall into what is often called the "missing middle." Their families earn too much to qualify for Medi-Cal but cannot afford the high cost of mental health care.

Because of this community, more young people can access the support, connection, and hope they deserve.

Thank you for being part of that mission.

2025: A Year of Growth

What a ride it was.

In 2025, Heart of Gold Gravel entered an exciting new chapter. We introduced a brand-new event venue at Pioneer Park, creating an incredible home base for riders, families, volunteers, and sponsors. As the sun came up over Nevada City and riders rolled through town to begin their adventure, it was clear this year's event was something special.

We also welcomed Big Blue Adventure as our official event producer and lead partner. Their expertise helped elevate the entire rider experience and introduced Heart of Gold to an even larger cycling community.

We welcomed first-time riders, returning friends, and even a few familiar faces from the cycling world. Like any gravel adventure, there were a few unexpected twists along the way, but the overwhelming response reminded us why this event continues to grow year after year.

Together, we're building more than a bike ride. We're creating a premier gravel experience that showcases the beauty of Nevada County while investing in the mental health and well-being of local youth.

How Your Support Makes an Impact

Raising Awareness for Youth Mental Health

Heart of Gold Gravel helps spark conversations around youth mental health while bringing together a community committed to supporting young people. Every event helps reduce stigma, increase awareness, and remind youth that they are not alone.

Expanding Access to Care

Funds raised help ensure young people have access to mentoring, therapy, and other mental health resources, including those who often fall through the gaps of traditional funding and insurance systems.

Supporting Youth Across Nevada County

Heart of Gold proudly supports youth throughout western Nevada County and the Tahoe Truckee region, helping create a seamless network of care so more young people can access the services they need, regardless of where they live.

Strengthening Four Local Nonprofits

Every registration, sponsorship, and donation directly supports the work of four organizations dedicated to youth mental health and wellness:

  • Child Advocates of Nevada County
  • Bright Futures for Youth
  • Youth Bicyclists of Nevada County (YBONC)
  • Heart of Gold Teen Therapy

By working together instead of separately, these organizations can reach more youth, provide more services, and create a stronger network of support throughout our community.

Thank You

None of this happens without you.

Behind every mile ridden, every volunteer shift, every sponsorship, and every donation is someone who believes in creating a healthier future for our youth.

To our riders, volunteers, donors, sponsors, community partners, and everyone who helped bring Heart of Gold Gravel to life—thank you.

Because of you, young people in our community have greater access to hope, connection, and mental health support.

We can't wait to ride with you again on October 17, 2026 as we continue building something truly special.

Together, we're proving that a bike ride can change lives.
